Sun City Carnival

Last night we went to Kenny Chesney's concert with Lady Antebellum, Miranda Lambert, and what was supposed to be Sugarland but they had to cancel due to vocal problems. It was a big dissapointment that Sugarland couldn't make it but we still had a great time. Isabelle loves Lady A, and so to ensure that she could meet them we missed Miranda's set to get in line to meet them. I was fortunate to meet them before the concert through their fan club but Isabelle didn't get chosen, so I was glad that they decided to do an autograph line so she could meet them.

I think that was the highlight of her night because after meeting them she had a huge smile on her face. Hilary, Dave, and Charles all were very nice to her and Hilary even said that Isabelle was adorable and she loved that. We went with Grandma LeAnn, Grandma & Grandpa Barker, Ben & Shannon and Nick. Despite it being really hot everyone had a great night. Lady A was very good as the opening act and Kenny put on an awesome show.

Mom, Dad, Nick and Me had closer seats then everyone else but it worked out because right by us there were six open seats so Aly, Isabelle, LeAnn, Ben and Shannon were able to come down for Kenny's set and they didn't have to pay a ton of money like we did!!

This is right after meeting Lada A, man she was excited!!

BBQ

I was lucky enough to be recruited to smoke pork shoulder for the Relief Society summer bbq because Aly thought that I would want to do it! She didn't ask, she just told me that I was doing it (Typical isn't it!) because she knew that I wouldn't mind at all. In preparing the meat Isabelle decided to help and once the camera came out, we got this picture:

Moab

I go to Moab every three months for work and usually try and take Isabelle with me one time a year (To get that father-daughter bonding time in). Usually we will see my clients, eat dinner, go to a movie and then go back to the hotel room, but this year I thought it would be good to take her on a hike. Isabelle has never been on a hike and so I picked a fairly easy trail that was a mile and a half long up to Corona Arch.

It was a little too hot to be hiking (100 degrees) but Isabelle did very well. About half-way up the whining started: "I'm hot," "My legs are so tired," "Can't we go back?," "I'm not having fun anymore," you know, the usual stuff. I gave her a motivational speech about not giving up, that it would be worth it when we got there, blah, blah, blah, and she bought it. After a little more hiking we made it to the top and the first thing she said was: "Good thing we didn't give up Dad!" I guess my speech worked! I was glad we did it and hopefully this is something she will remember for a long time.
